Branding and assets for a biophilic design studio

Aterre are a design studio based in London with a background in biophilic installations, interior architecture and emotional ergonomics. They launched Aterre in 2020 - a multi-faceted brand with many strings to their bow - a shop, a lab, a studio and a collaborative ‘society’. The brand identity needed to reflect these four parts.

Aterre; earthbound, from the earth, represents the ethos of the company and is reflected in the earthy tones of the colour palette. The duo have a shared passion for emotionally intelligent design based upon a profound respect for the wisdom of nature and the planet. Thus incorporating biophilic design and biotecture into their design schemes, combined with a deep understanding of sensory and experiential design and the positive emotional impact this has on our lives.

A bespoke illustration based upon historical horticultural drawing styles had been commissioned and that needed to be intertwined into the branding. I set colour palette and typography pulling it all together into comprehensive brand guidelines.

Working again with Yeshen and myself to create the initial structure of the Squarespace website, with Aterre themselves building the site. The shop part of the site consists of a range of large scale indoor structural plants and specially commissioned, beautiful handmade ceramic pots. All areas of the branding are supported by stunning photography by Yeshen Venema.
